Seattle House Boat – Darrow Residence

Nason’s Creations was contracted by Dyna to perform the framing and steel erection for the Darrow Floating Home in the spring of 2017.
Floating Homes present some fun new challenges for the framing contractor, for instance you can leave your lasers, levels, and plumb bobs at home. These projects must be framed using the math to keep everything square and level. Ensuring that the Warmboard floors were perfectly flat so you can square your walls off of it was critical. Of course walking the plate line is only for the experienced as the home rolls with the wake.
Note the pontoon for the 520 floating bridge passing by in the background! When the pontoon was floated past the top of the water was smooth but the under current really packed a punch and had the Golden Alaska parked next door slamming into the wharf.
